Chimney caps

Chimney caps whether it be stainless steel or blue stone it should always have some type of screen to keep critters out. Having a chimney cap is crucial to adding longevity to your chimney. A chimney flue is basically a big hole in your roof and without some sort of cap the water just pours right in there. It can go all the way down to the bottom of your furnace. It can get in the cracks and crevices, freeze and contract, cracking tiles and spalling bricks. It also lets animals in there. Never go with a cheap cap that's not stainless, copper or bluestone. It will rust and leave stains bleeding down your chimney. After a just few years it will ultimately fail. We install single flue covers or if you have more than one flu we can install multi-flue covers. It's not just a good idea to cover just the flus. If you get a multi-flue cap you can get one custom to the size of your chimney so it acts as an umbrella shedding the water away from the brick as well and protects the chimney crown.
